I'm reviewing every Harry Potter book, and had planned to write my review for the Chamber of Secrets right after I finished re-reading it, but then got too lazy. Thankfully, I read through the Prisoner of Azkaban again in a very short amount of time, and so decided that I might as well do a review of both at once.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is the second installment in this seven-book series, and follows through Harry's second year at Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft and Wizardry. However, this time, things are different. Something has happened at the school that ensures danger to anyone, and somehow Harry is always at the centre of it all.
This book could have been really similar to the first one, what with the initial spectacle of magic gone. But, thankfully, Rowling changed the environments greatly, even more than in the third book. There was an intrigue to this book, mysteries at every corner, and depth for more characters. But there isn't really anything that sets this book completely apart from the Philospher's Stone, but that doesn't mean in any way that it's a bad book. In fact:

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban though... This book stepped it up. They say people grew up with these books, and you can really feel it. The tone of this book is darker than the previous ones, and the range of language was evolved too. The themes too, were much more personal. Harry's thoughts, feelings, emotions were peeking, and they got to a point that would be considered much too complex for someone young. The story was deeper, more confusing, and even changed the events of the last two books completely.
This is one of my favourite books of the series, and that's really saying something.
